Monkeys and children just seem to go together - almost everyone is called “a little monkey” at some point. Uakari (named for a genus of Brazilian monkeys) captures some of that monkey-ness for kids to play and pretend everyday. It is available individually, or as part of the Imagination Collection.

The Imagination Collection includes four animal sweaters, each with 7 sizes (3 months - 6T), two toy patterns, two full photo tutorials, in addition to other links, tips, and tricks.

Uakari is knit in pieces and seamed, before the head is picked up and knit. Short row shaping keeps the hood on comfortably regardless of monkey business. Pockets and ears are knit separately and sewed on at the end. The buttonband and buttonholes are knit as you go, and a little i-cord makes finishes the neck and ears.

If you put the ears on the top of the hood - it looks like a bear.

I have some tutorials for the tubular cast-on I use - and some tricks for making it easy and pretty, here on my website.

The 4T sweater is modeled on an average sized 3 year old.
