…the shimmering blue is directionless. There is no up, there is no down. It’s just depth. Movement. The universal shadows dance as one, right to left. With a speed that pulls you along with the current, the darkness swallowing you, tightening around you as this dance, this shape, this endless coil, this spiral around you. In that moment, yellow light bursts before you in the shape of an enormous yellow eye.

  • Critical Role Campaign 2 Episode 5 “The Open Road”

This small, one skein, cowl is a perfect quick knit. This pattern was inspired by the online Dungeons and Dragons stream, Critical Role. Critical Role’s second campaign includes the character, Fjord, whose story is tied to the Leviathan-type deity known as “Uk’atoa”, a serpent type creature covered in bright yellow eyes.

When designing this cowl I wanted textures that represented the waves of the sea and the many-eyed serpent rising from the ocean. I like to imagine this piece being worn in secret under Fjords armor as a reminder of the deal he has struck with the deity in exchange for the power, and weapon, he wields.
