Last May, I won beautiful DK weight yarn from the wonderfully talented German dyer, GarnStories. I asked her to surprise me with the color, and when it arrived, I immediately imagined this gorgeous, slouchy cardigan. A quick search on Ravelry did not yield anything that I could even adapt, thus, Uncle Vanya’s cardi was conceived. I quickly realized, I did not have enough yarn to knit the length I had envisioned, so I searched for a complimentary color and decided this would be a color work design. Why Uncle Vanya? Because this sweater seems like something you might have found it in an old trunk you inherited from your secretive Uncle. And, his name was Vanya. Shhhhhh.
