Under the Sea Shawl is a delightfully lightweight and deceptively straightforward lace pattern. Knit entirely in the round (and without a single purl stitch!) it creates a shawl that is easy to wear and a pleasure to knit. Using a gradient yarn brings a whole other level of impact to Under the Sea, but it would be equally gorgeous in a semisolid yarn as well.

Yarn
1 skein Apple Tree Knits Alpaca Lace in SeaGlass gradient; 100% superfine alpaca, 990 yds (905 m) / 3.2 oz (90 g)

Needles
US size #4 (3.5 mm) DPN’s and circular needle, or size needed to obtain gauge. Circular needles should be at least 24 inches in length to accommodate the large number of stitches in final rounds.

Gauge
20 sts = 4 inches in st st, after blocking (for greatest accuracy, knit swatch in the round)
Please note that at the stated gauge the shawl will use almost the entire skein, with very little leftover. If using this yarn it is important to obtain the correct gauge to ensure you will have enough to finish the project.

Notions
Stitch markers, tapestry needle (for weaving in ends)

Finished Size
48 in (122 cm) diameter
