Unexpected is a fun and easy asymmetrical triangular shawl with contrasting elements, worked from side to side and growing in progression until desired length is reached.

Shawl could be made using only one main color and one contrasting color yarns, but could also be a base for some wild color combinations in small quantities of leftovers.

Shape is achieved by increasing at one side and decreasing at the other side, incorporating the color pattern in the same time as the shawl grows. Simple borders are applied on the edges to give it a finished look. Pattern uses basic stitches only, but attention and good recognition of the stitches is needed as the stitch count is important for the proper alignment of the “dots”.
