Includes patterns for both Ben and Alex’s blankets.

These two blankets incorporate a new, slightly funky, stitch I call an “Anchored Triple Crochet” that gives a look that is reminiscent of the hinges one finds on vintage travel trunks and cases.

Each blanket is named after my nephew for whom it was made. Alex’s has a straight forward repetitive pattern and Ben’s works out in such a way that it ends up with an almost shadowed look. These are made with my nephews’ favorite colors, but I think any contrasting combination would look great.

While they are pretty yarn intensive, these blankets move along pretty quickly and are fun to work on while watching a movie. They’ll be pretty warm, too, which we all need if we experience another winter like we had in 2013!

Since folks have asked, here’s a quick video of the Anchored Triple Crochet stitch used in these blankets. I made this while trying to figure out what it was called! :-)
