This is the knitting pattern for a tea cosy featuring a union jack. Knit this for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

If you are having a tea party to celebrate this is just what you need. How can you live without it!

Size
This Cosy will fit a medium (2 cups) or Large (4-6 cups) size Tea Pot. The width of the Small cosy is approx 37.5 cm all round and 16 cm high. The width of the Large cosy is approx 48 cm all round and 19.5 cm high. (Not including the bobble) It’s best to use a yarn with a high proportion of pure wool for more insulation.

Materials

For the Small Tea Cosy
Use an Aran weight (US Worsted) yarn that has a knit tension of 18 stitchess and 25 rows over stocking stitch on 5 mm (UK/Canada/Aus no.6, US no.8) needles.
I suggest Paintbox Yarns Wool Mix Aran(180m/197yds per 100g ball), 1 ball each of shades 807 Vanilla Cream, 836 Dolphin Blue, and 814 Pillar Red.

For the Large Tea Cosy
Use a Chunky weight yarn that has a knit tension of 14 stitches and 20 rows over stocking stitch on 6 mm (UK/Canada/Aus no.4, US no.10) needles.
I suggest West Yorkshire Spinners—Retreat (140m/153yds per 100g ball), 1 ball each of shades 151 Joy, 552 Adore, and 010 Pure.
