This fabulously chunky scarf with textured knit-look ribbing is the perfect accessory for both men and women. Worked in mega chunky/bulky yarn for a super quick 2 hour finish.

YOU WILL NEED 200 m (200 yds) Mega Chunky/Mega Bulky yarn, a 10.00 mm hook and a needle for neatening ends. Amounts quoted are for a scarf 1.8 m (6ft) in length and 15 – 17.5 cm (6-7”) wide. Instructions are included for changing width and length.

NOTE: I crochet quite loosely and, since the largest hook I own is a 10.00 mm, this was the size I worked with. You may however prefer to use a larger hook to obtain gauge and a 15.00 mm is often recommended for this weight yarn.

GAUGE 4sts and 6 rows to 10 cm (4”) in modified half treble/modified half double crochet.

The instructions are given in such a way that it is possible to change yarn and hook and work to own gauge. In such cases, you should aim for a loose draping finish. This will ensure the scarf hangs as intended and make the modified stitches easier to work.

There are some hints on how to work the modified half treble (half double crochet) in this post on my website.

The pattern has been fully tested.

Both UK and US versions are included in the one pattern.
