There are a few simple hat patterns out there for BJDs, but none that are written up for all wig sizes. This pattern is an easy beginner project or a great jumping-off point for advanced colourwork and funky stitch patterns - or just something quick to knit for a homecoming hat, swap gift, wig cap, etc.

The pattern is written in 1” increments to match the wig sizes common for most ball-jointed dolls, but it can be used for dolls with rooted wigs as well. The pattern assumes that the wig adds approximately 0.5” to the max head circumference (i.e. that a doll who wears an 8-9” wig will have an over-wig circumference of 9.5”), so rooted-hair dolls with head circumference of 4.5-10.5” will find a hat to fit them here as well!

Shown in sizes 3-4” (grey, modeled on Soom MiniGem), 7-8” (purple-green, modeled on Fairyland MiniFee), and 9-10” (blue, modeled on Luts Delf).
