An artwork sock in which the pattern shows how to reproduce the artwork, with the option to produce a conventional pair of socks. This pattern is a development inspired by Mel Browne’s Opus 800.

Description from pattern:
“Mid calf-length socks in 3 or 4 ply with a decorative leg in lace with metallic filament yarn, and a lace instep. Knitted cuff-down. One lace sock is in conventional style, while the other has a black foot with purple decorative band, decorated in slipstitch.”

Sizes
The pattern gives options for knitting the sock in light fingering (3ply) or heavier sock yarn (4-ply and heavier hand-dyed 4-ply), so size can be adjusted by changing no. of sts and/or needle size.

Requirements
It would take about 150g of the recommended yarn to reproduce both socks in conventional style. It would take 100g of light fingering (3ply) or lighter European sock yarn to produce the same socks (instructions in pattern).

For the artwork socks you would also need:
about 40yd of black sock yarn and
about 20yd of sock yarn in complementary colour for the decorative band.
For the glitter you’d need about 50yd of metallic filament yarn.
Beads: 32 heishi or spacer beads.
Hook: steel hook 0.75-1.00mm for beading.
Needles: 4 dpns, in size 2.5mm or 2.75mm or 3mm for S, M or L sizes.

The pdf file includes two separate, fully-written patterns for cuff-down and toe-up construction, including three stitch diagrams, for leg, instep and decorative band.
