The stylized bird on the hat Uppländsk Fågelkrans is inspired by a stencilmade motif from the vaulted ceilings of Sånga church in Uppland, Sweden.

Several birds are flying up there amongst saints, biblical scenes, stylized flowers and climbing vines. Some birds perch on top of a vine, looking like flowers on stems. Similar stencile-made birds painted in black or ferric-oxide red can be found in several Uplandic medieval churches.

The pattern has two sizes: child and adult. There are fewer leaves in the wreath on the smaller size.

Uppländsk Fågelkrans means Bird Wreath from Uppland in swedish.
