Urban Aran Hat
The first issue of Rib Magazine featured the Urban Aran Mitts, a pair of quick fingerless mitts showcasing seed stitch and cables. Designed as a companion piece, the Urban Aran Hat uses elements from the mitts, creating the perfect set to keep you or a loved one warm during the new year.
19½ (20½, 22½)” / 49.5 (52, 57) cm circumference x 8” / 20.5 cm
Shown in size 19½” / 49.5 cm and designed to be worn with 1–2” / 2.5–5 cm of negative ease
1 (2, 2) skeins of Julie Asselin Nurtured (100% wool; 130 yd / 119 m per 60 g) or 120 (140, 158) yd / 109 (128, 145) m of worsted weight yarn

Needles for small circumference knitting (DPNs or long circular for magic loop) in sizes US 7 / 4.5 mm and US 6 / 4 mm
Or use a needle size to obtain gauge after blocking
Six stitch markers (one in a distinct color or style for BOR), cable needle, darning needle
20 sts and 28 rnds = 4” / 10 cm in St st using larger needles after blocking
If you wish to lengthen the hat, repeat Rnds 11-14, in full repeats. Repeating any other rnds may disrupt the crown decreases.
