The 2018 TEAM USA Closing Ceremonies hat for PyeongChang, reverse engineered pattern--FREE.

This one is knit bottom up, starting with a few rows of ribbing and ending with cool braids/tassels on top. Look at the photos online, its not a beanie--It’s a bit slouchy.

The original hat says TEAM USA and contains a flag. My sample says USA 2018 and includes a decorative motif from the 2014 hat. The pattern has charts for several options.

Disclaimer: I’m not a pattern designer, nor am I particularly clever with software. So, I’ve (rather sloppily) hand labeled the charts, and the pattern contains two blank pages where the scanner picked up the backside of a chart. Sorry about that, but the charts and pattern are accurate.

2/4/2018--NOTE The pattern says the center of the main motif has a single yellow stitch. After looking more carefully at photos of the original USA hat, I realize that the center stitch appears yellow is an optical illusion. I plan to update the text of the pattern to remove the reference to a yellow stitch. Until then, I hope you see this.

2/8/2018 update I’ve uploaded an update to the pattern, it was pointed out to me that I had made some errors in the number of cast on stitches and said in one point the ribbing was k1,p2 and in another place it was k1,p1. It’s k1,P1.

GO USA!
