Utsukushii means lovely or beautiful in Japanese, and this lovely stole knit in Silky Alpaca Lace features a Japanese Feather lace pattern framing simple Stockinette panels. The lace undulates gently from side to side, creating a feeling of lightness and movement. Knit at a large gauge, and generous enough to enfold you comfortably, Utsukushii is a warm yet weightless wrap that lends any occasion a touch of loveliness.

Techniques & Skills Used: Longtail CO, knit/purl, easy lace; this pattern includes both written and charted instructions.

Size: 64” length and 22” depth, after blocking; size is customizable to accommodate varying amounts of yardage.

Yarn: Classic Elite Yarns Silky Alpaca Lace (70% alpaca, 30% silk; 440 yards/50g); 2 skeins, shown in 2448 Perfect Storm. As written the sample used every bit of two skeins, but any amount of yarn may be used by working additional repeats of the main section before the final edging.

Other Materials: US 7 (4.5mm) needles; Stitch markers (10); Yarn needle.

Gauge: 18 st and 23 rows/4” in stockinette stitch. Gauge is not critical for this project, however a different gauge may result in a smaller or larger finished wrap, and different yardage requirements.
