This little clutch (6.5” x 4”) can be used as a cosmetic pouch, a pencil case, or a small clutch. It’s best in a yarn with good stitch definition to show off the design and enough body to keep it from being too soft and floppy (the one in the photo was made with a cotton blend).

Instead of conventional side seams, this pouch is closed by picking up stitches on both sides of the seam while applying i-cord. This way you apply i-cord and “sew” the side seam at the same time. I-cord trim continues around the flap and down the other side, making a neat edging all around. The pouch fastens with a snap.

The stitch pattern itself is charted, and the rest of the pattern directions are written.
