As the winds pick up along the river in the late fall, I find myself inside knitting and baking while The Gentleman heads outside and into the woods. He spends hours hiking, foraging mushrooms, wandering along trails, driving down logging roads. Each year, I make him a new pair of hand knit socks to keep his feet warm on his adventures. Knit in worsted wool, this sock mixes textures of slipped stitches and cables to make a quick and warm hiking sock.
