Cables and lace make up the body of this hat inspired by a nearby wood. Vaughn is knit in the round from the brim to the crown and features a garter stitch brim.


Skills required: Cast on, knit, purl, ssk decrease, yarn over, k2tog decrease, make one increase, knitting cables, knitting in the round on circular and double pointed needles.

Gauge:
22 sts and 48 rows = 4in (10cm) in garter stitch on US 4 needles.

26 sts and 32 rows = 4in (10cm) in cable and lace pattern on US 7 needles. One 15 stitch repeat of cable and lace pattern measures 2.25in (5.5cm) wide. One 8 row repeat of cable and lace pattern measures 1in (2.5cm)

18 sts and 28 rows = 4in (10cm) in stockinette stitch on US 7 needles.

Finished Measurements: 18in (46cm) brim, unstretched and 9in (23cm) from brim to crown. Stretches to fit an average 22in (56cm) circumference.
