Veggie Garden is the first in a trio of shawls inspired by my Grandmothers Flower Garden Scarf. This one is dedicated to my Grandad who had a wonderful vegetable garden which produced some tasty treats. The lace in this shawl reminds me of the lines of carrots, onions, cabbages etc.

This pattern contains two versions of the shawl: one has a plain stockinette stitch body and lace edging; the second has a patterned body using lace, garter and stockinette ending with the lace edging.
The shawls are an elongated crescent, which are easy to knit and wear, knit from the top down all in one piece.

Each shawl uses one 100g skein of fingering weight yarn. I recommend solid, tonals and lightly variegated yarns to show the lace off.
For the plain body I used 98g=452y Knit Picks Stroll Glimmer in the Pomegranate colourway. For the patterned body I used 100g = 462y Knit Picks Stroll Tonal in the Canopy colourway.

I indicate in the pattern the point at which you can finish if you have 440yards and then the extension for those of you with the 460 yardage. I am a tight knitter so if you don’t do a gauge swatch I suggest you start with at least the 440y listed, my testers have used anything from 420 to 480y.

The pattern has full written instructions for both shawls, with regular stitch counts and guidance on yardage; an abbreviations key; written and charted instructions for the lace and notes on blocking.

The pattern has been test knit. Thank you to my testers; fiveb, chemlady, chocolatekate, lgesin, gilliana82, krisluvswool and rosehipchick.
