Veijul is a mashup of two Norwegian words that vaguely means “road to Christmas.” This cowl pattern is meant to use mini skeins from one of the many amazing yarny advent calendars available. Don’t have an advent calendar? Veijul works up lovely in scraps and leftovers: most pattern sections take less that 10g per repeat! I designed this cowl with love and excitement looking forward to an advent swap with my two dear friends: Lisa of Abacus Dyeworks and Jen of the Driftless Knitter Podcast. This is designed to share with friends! So grab you knitters, grab some minis, and cast on in celebration of the cozy winter season.

Tools:
US 3 Needle (circular, 20” or 32” long)
Scissors
Stitch marker for marking beginning of round
Darning Needle (for weaving ends)

Yarn:
Fingering weight yarn, Flexible yardage (see note)
10g or less per pattern section repeat

A note about yarn and color selection:
This cowl is meant to be worked up in mini skeins or yarn scraps. Each pattern section works up in about 10g or less. You may repeat each section as much as your heart desires and yarn allows!
As for colors: certain sections play better with certain color types. I’ve noted suggested color types with each pattern.
