The Estonian pattern Quatrefoil with Stones (The Haapsalu Shawl by Siiri Reimann and Aime Edasi, page 103) reminded me of many of the beautiful windows and arches I saw when I visited Venice so it became the main motif in this shawl. The shawl is triangular and is knit from the top down with increases on every right-side row, worked at the edges and each side of the center stitch. The edging is not knitted on as in traditional Estonian shawls.

I made it with a handspun lace yarn but I think it would work well for most lace to light fingering weight yarns.

Warning - the pattern has not been test knitted by anyone other than myself so there may be errors. Please let me know if you find any and I will post a corrected version. Thanks.
