This is the third pattern in Craft Work Knit, my self-published collection of 10 new patterns.

The inspiration for this pattern was all in the yarn: tone-on-tone greens and contrasting textures and lines. I like the idea of working in discrete chunks and incorporating some luxurious accent yarn, resulting in something that’s a little reminiscent of strip-pieced quilting.

The sample was worked with Malabrigo’s handspun angora for the three accent colors, but any accent yarn between worsted and chunky weight can be substituted, as long as it knits to a gauge of 14 sts/28 rows = 4 inches in garter stitch on size 8 needles. This is your chance to pick a lovely yarn and show it off!

This pullover is worked from the bottom up, in one piece. The body and sleeves are worked in the round to the yoke and joined, then the horizontal striped portion is worked back and forth and joined to the body as it’s worked. The top of the yoke is picked up from the horizontal portion and worked to the neck.

It’s not as difficult as it sounds!
