This pattern is for a light weight hat made from cotton thread. It is written so it can be adapted for every size head from a preemie to an adult.

No gauge is needed (YEAH! ! ! ! I hate crocheting to gauge.) All you need to know is the circumference of the head you wan the hat to fit. (A size chart is given at the end of the pattern in case the “head” you need is not available.)

I used left over thread that I had, so I honestly don’t know how much you need. However, I can tell you that for my 3T hat, I did not use a full ball of res Bernat Handicrafter Cotton Thread or even close to a full ball.

The hat itself has a lot of “give” yet the ribbed edge makes it fit the head.
