This is a very basic sock pattern. It is my ‘go-to’ pattern when I make plain socks.

Size:
Women’s Medium
To fit foot circumference: 20 cm / 8 in

Finished measurements:
Sock circumference – 19 cm (7.5) in
Leg length – 16 cm (6.25) in
Foot length – 23 cm (9) in

Materials:
Approx. 411 m / 450 yds 4 ply (Fingering) sock yarn

Tools needed:
2.25mm (US # 1) set of DPNS
3 x stitch markers
tapestry needle

The pattern provided is for one size - women’s medium, however it is easy to adjust to suit larger or smaller feet.

Just remember to alter the length for the cuff, leg and foot and the gusset increases to suit the person you are making the socks for.

48 sts will fit a small-medium child
56 sts will fit a medium-large child or a small woman
60 sts will fit a medium woman
64 sts will fit a slightly larger women’s medium
72 sts will fit a large woman or medium man.
