Viator is Latin, meaning “traveller”. I felt the name belonged to this cardigan because of the cables travelling from the bottom back hem, over the shoulders and to the front hems.

This is an open, cable-adorned cardigan. It is worked from the bottom up in separate pieces. There is waist shaping and the sleeves are set in. In the back, a cable pattern rises from the center upwards and separates in a V-shape at the shoulder blades. Otherwise the cardigan is stockinette stitch with garter stitch borders and two yarn braids as a closure method. The fronts of the cardigan do not overlap or go together – there is an opening of about the neck’s width between the fronts.

The PDF pattern
The pattern pdf has eight pages, and it contains both charts and written directions for the cables as well as a detailed schematic. The pattern contains definitions for all abbreviations used, as well as written explanations for specific techniques (such as 3-needle bind off).
