A stained glass window was the inspiration for this vest design. It’s been in my plans since I first saw the pattern about 10 years ago.

Pattern is available in three different sizes, S (40”) -M (43”) -L (46 1/4”). Size changes are made by adjusting the gauge and needle size. The ribbing is made on a needle 3 sizes smaller than the body needle. Gauge listed is for the Small 40” finished size, on a size 3US needle.

The vest is knit in the round using steeks. The yarn used is discontinued. It is a plied alpaca yarn with 1380 YPP, 14 WPI. Cheryl’s own yarn, Dancing Colors, might be a good substitute for the larger sizes, to achieve gauge. Berroco’s Ultra Alpaca Light might also work. Swatching in the round & blocking is essential.

Yardage Requirements:

  • MC black 5 skeins (650 yds total) sport wt. alpaca yarn
  • CC’s #1-5 1 skein (130 yds. each) each of 5 different colors of sport wt. alpaca yarn
