Bias Seed stitch and Lace, combine to create a whimsical, fun to knit scarf. Made with one, 100 g skein of speckled, fingering weight yarn and an optional skein of very fine mohair as an accent. It would be equally gorgeous in a tonal yarn, something with a little sheen, or color blocked.

This pattern is a great way to learn bias knitting, i-cord edging and practice a simple lace stitch.

Techniques: Bias knitting, I-cord edging, Garter stitch, Seed stitch, Lace knitting, Increasing, Decreasing, Making and Attaching Tassels

Dimensions:
Length: 72”/ 183 cm (point to point)
Width: 6”/ 15 cm

Gauge: 27 stitches and 48 rows = 4”/10 cm in Seed stitch using MC only, after blocking.

Yarn:
MC: 1 skein: 463 yds/423.5 m fingering weight wool yarn
Republic of Wool Flossy Fingering (75% superwash merino wool, 25% nylon, 463 yds/423.5 m, per 100 g skein). Color used in sample: Gutsy
-You can find Republic of Wool yarn here. She changes the colors she’s dying regularly so this colorway may not be available but she has lots of other beautiful colors in fingering weight. Watch for weekly updates when she adds new yarn to the shop. Be ready, they sell out fast!
Note: This scarf used up every bit of the skein including the initial swatch, which I pulled out and began knitting from. If your gauge doesn’t match or you worry about running out, get a second skein.

Optional Accent Yarn - AC: 1 skein: 311 yds/285 m ultra fine lace weight mohair yarn.
Habu Textiles Ultra Fine Kid Mohair (68% kid mohair, 32% nylon, 311 yds/285 m, per .5 oz/14.25 g skein). Color used in sample: White

Needles: 16”/41 cm US 2/2.75 mm circular needle for working flat, or straight needles. Or size needed to obtain gauge.
