This ethnographic mitten uses an old cuff of a type that dates back to the 18th Century made of a sequence of knit and purl rows - in this instance, there are six pairs of knit / purl rows. Following a transition band, the upper mitten is knit in two colors using an ancient pattern known as “crayfish”.
