This pattern is an adaptation of one of my most popular designs, The Vine Divine, a two-piece dress with a variety of tops: a vest, a cardigan, and a pullover, with a choice of four different sleeves. Since the tops for the dress are all quite fitted, several knitters asked if I could come up with a loose-fitting jacket that might include many of the same design elements as the dress.

The gauge for this project is 5 sts = 1” on size 6 needles with worsted-weight yarn. If you desire a larger or smaller jacket, use a heavier or lighter yarn, larger or smaller needles, or both. The numbers of stitches and rows must remain the same in order for the entire pattern not to be thrown off.

Here is what you will need:
Yarns: Solid Jacket: 8 skeins worsted-weight yarn @ 200 yds.
Multicolor jacket: plum - 4 sk @ 200 yds
royal - 3 sk @ 200 yds
multi - 2 sk @180 yds
teal - 1 sk @ 108 yds
jade - 1 sk @ 85 yds
mint - 2 sk @ 85 yds
aqua, orchid, brick, lilac - 16 ½ yds ea for leaves

For either jacket: Needles Size 6 or size to obtain desired gauge
Crochet hook Size C
7 large buttons

I also recommend a magnetic board to mark your rows and help you keep your place.

This flattering, easy-fitting jacket fits everyone and looks great in either one color or many. For best results, please follow all instructions exactly. To alter the size, change your gauge by using a different weight yarn, different size needles, or both.
