“The inspiration for this piece comes from a beautiful centrepiece I found in an antique shop. I was intrigued by the intricacy of the overlapping lace bands, and together with my friend Lena I analysed the stitches behind this pattern. This project is the crochet equivalent of a carefully handcrafted piece of reproduction furniture, true to the original style and craftmanship. Although the pattern is less complicated than you might think at first glance, this is a challenging piece and will require some time to complete - time well spent, I think, to produce what may become an heirloom in the future. I chose to do the project in a classic linen thread.”
