Vintergatan is the Swedish name for the Milky Way, the galaxy that contains our Solar System. It is also the name of a poem by a Finnish poet Zacharias Topelius.
In the poem, two lovers get separated by night and death and sadness and shame. They were damned to live on separate stars on opposite sides of the blue wide space, with worlds and suns between them. In the longing and love for each other they start to build a bridge, from world to world and sun to sun. In 1000 years they build and when the bridge is done they run to each other arms and a star brightest of the heavens arch, after a thousand years of sadness put every heart abloom.
