Viola is an extremely clever design that is sure to be your very own knitted masterpiece! A combination of smaller squares come together in a unique way to create an image that can only be revealed once every piece is in place. At first glance, Viola is a seemingly simple afghan that is knit out of small, garter stitch squares. Once you look closer, you will see four different types of garter squares: plain, bias, mitered, and concentric. Each of the 206 squares has its own unique coloring, which comes together at the end to reveal a vibrant and stunning flowering image. The pattern helps keep you organized with 18 charts, each of which contains 8-12 squares and includes instructions for backing your afghan. By combining the simplicity of garter stitch with unusual and intriguing construction, the Viola Afghan exemplifies the notion that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
