This is a slip stitch crochet pattern for a pair of cabled mittens. Slip stitch mittens are traditionally crocheted in rounds, but these are crocheted sideways in rows - each row running over both palm and back of the hand, from the wrist up over the hand and down on the other side to the wrist again. The cuff is added afterwards.

The cables are made with short-rows, and the procedure is described with step-by-step photos.

Skills needed: experience of slip stitch crochet, including inverse stitches. The body of the mitten is crocheted in front loop ribbing (rows of front loop only slip stitches) and the cuff is back loop ribbing.
The inverse stitches are necessary to complete the cables.

Any yarn can be used, 100 g or 200 m should be enough.

I am using David Burchall’s terminology for slip stitch crochet.
