Indonesians have a unique tradition of homecoming during the holiday season, especially in Al Fitr (Idul Fitri), Christmas, or on a long weekend. We call this tradition “mudik.” Visiting our parents, grandparents, and family back in our village, hometown, or country brings such joy, memories of our childhood, and many sentimental feelings for the whole family. We see the old family house, the photos from when we were little that are still hanging on the wall, the green view, mother’s cooking, and even the scents we don’t forget. We all know how mothers are very special to us. This shawl is specially designed for that - for mothers that always wait for us to come home. This shawlette or shawl is one that we would like to wear when we’re visiting mother.
