These mittens (sold together with matching hat in the pattern) feature a pretty cabled pattern on the back of the hand, gusseted thumbs, and plain stockinette palms. The pattern was inspired by the gnarled tree trunk used by Viviane to imprison Merlin in the Arthurian legend.

This pattern contains both the mittens and matching beanie-style hat. The pattern features charts, as well as written instructions for both items. It also includes some notes on how to up-size the patterns using a light worsted-weight yarn. The originals were knit with Wooly Wonka Fibers Freya DK, a lightweight DK BFL wool, in the “Wisp” colorway. Each skein is approximately 325 yards and both items can be knit from 1 skein of this yarn.

Many thanks to my test knitters for ensuring the patterns were ready for release!
