This placemat was created firstly as a way to use up some of my cotton yarn (plentiful in multiple colors in my stash), and secondly as a way that I could easily make more later on if needed without worrying about matching dye lots or particular yarn types. Pictured you can see the full set of placemats I made. Each one is a different color, but the contrasting border stripe is the same. This way, I really only have to keep track of one particular yarn for future placemats (the contrasting border stripe yarn), and I only use a scrap amount in each one! If you prefer things a bit more matchy, matchy, please feel free to make them all the same! And if you’ve never done the waffle stitch before - it creates some awesome texture! This simple project would be a great place to try it out!
