About this Design
As the temperature plummets and the days get shorter, there is nothing lovelier than a lie in bed on the weekend with a good book, a cup of tea, some toast and the cosiest toes on the planet. These soft and smooshy Waffle Stitch bed socks are full of tiny air pockets that will keep even the coldest toes beautifully warm. In either a single colour, or a snazzy two-colour version, these bed socks will cheer you up on a miserable winter weekend.

Knitted in 8 ply/double knit yarn, these bed socks are a quick knit and would make a great gift. The two-colour version is also a great way to use up bits and pieces from your stash for the contrast colour. You might even decide to take the plunge and make a Magic Ball for your contrast colour (go on, you know you want to ☺). Alternatively, you can use up your left over multi-dyed yarns to create your own gorgeous bed socks.

If you fall in love with Waffle Stitch while knitting these bed socks (or you just love eating waffles), you’ll be thrilled to know that there are matching patterns for your head (Waffles for Brunch Beanie) and hands (Waffles Overdose Mitts). Receive a 15% discount on any of the three Waffles Collection patterns. Use the coupon code WAFFLES FOREVER in your shopping cart.

Note: This is a Magic Ball Friendly Pattern. Please read the free accompanying information booklet “Magic Ball Musings” for guidance on how to construct a Magic Ball. The Construction Notes also include suggestions for the best type of Magic Ball for this pattern.

Size
To fit actual foot circumference:

Small 17.8 cm/7.0 ins
Medium 20.3 cm/8.0 ins
Large 22.9 cm/9.0 ins

Please note that the completed dimensions for the foot circumference will be slightly smaller than the actual foot circumference size. This is because the pattern includes a small amount of negative ease to ensure a snug fit. Please select your size based on your actual foot measurements.

Tension
26 stitches x 34 rows over 10 centimetres (4 inches) in stocking (stockinette) stitch, knitted in the round using 3.25 mm (US size 3, UK size 10) needles.

Materials
Single colour version (small, medium, large) needs 100g (125g, 150g) 8-ply/double knit yarn (approximately 100 m/109 yds per 50g).

Two colour version (small, medium, large) needs Main Colour 50g (100g, 100g) 8-ply/double knit yarn (approximately 100 m/109 yds per 50g). Contrast Colour 50g (50g, 50g) 8-ply/double knit yarn (approximately 100 m/109 yds per 50g).

If you plan to wear your Waffles for Breakfast as bed socks then you probably don’t need to worry about using a blended fibre that includes nylon. However, if these socks are going to experience a hard life, then you should probably choose a fibre blend that is nice and tough.

Needles
A pair of 3.25 mm (US size 3, UK size 10) 61 cm/24 in circular needles. Optional 3.75 mm (US size 5, UK size 9) circular needles for the upper leg and cuff (if you have muscular calves).

Notions
Tapestry/darning needle.

Pattern
This pattern includes written and charted instructions as well as links to video tutorials (produced by other people) for most of the techniques used in the design.
