After finding a stash of Lion Brand Homespun yarn in the garage, I decided to give myself a challenge to make something that would enhance the texture of Homespun as sometimes stitch definition gets lost in the yarn itself!

And so I came up with this hat using a stitch pattern that alternated knits and purls, something akin to Barbara Walker’s Wager’s Welt design.

This hat would look great in any bulky yarn or even heavy DK weight (just adjust the gauge).
