Why not take a walk on the wild side with these socks that feature both colourwork and cables? Actually, they’re not so hard as they look as the multi-coloured effect is achieved using slipped stitches so that only one colour is used at a time, even while working the cables.
Also, take advantage of a clever method that guarantees no jogs between colour changes - read more about it at https://www.jotorr.co.uk/jogless-single-row-stripes/.
Sizes - measured around mid-foot
- Small - 7 - 8” (17.75 - 20.25cm)
- Medium - 8 - 9” (20.25 - 22.75cm)
- Large - 9 - 10” (22.75 - 25.5cm)
Yarn Requirements
The sample was knit using Artesano Definition. Sadly this is not currently available, but it can be substituted for any sock yarn with similar qualities - Regia or West Yorkshire Spinners sock yarns would work well for example. You’ll need equal amounts (approx 50g) of two contrasting colours.
Notions
- Stitch markers (2)
- Cable needles (2)
- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends.
Instructions for the pattern are both charted and fully written out so you can choose which you prefer.
I’d love it if you’d come to my group to show off your lovely socks, or chat about them while you’re making them. You’d be very welcome!
