Wapato Island (also known as Sauvie Island) is the largest island located along the Columbia River in Oregon state.
The yarn used in my original design was called Sauvie Island and the colors in the yarn were supposed to be inspired by this region. I needed a design that would work well with a hand-painted yarn (with some crazy color transitions), and thus Wapato Wakens was born!

The stitch pattern used in this design is ideal for those hand painted yarns you don’t know what to do with.
