Wristwarmers such as these are really useful in the winter, especially now that heating oil has become so expensive!… these are an excellent first cabling pattern; if you’ve never tried to cable, try this! It’s easier than it looks and the results are gratifying.

Using the specified yarn may be enough for two pairs of wristwarmers.

Designer’s note:

This pattern was designed when I was a newer knitter, so I didn’t make the ribbing at the beginning and end meet the cabling. (It didn’t bother me to wear them that way.) If you would prefer to not to have this little jog, there is an easy way to fix it. Just skip the Ribbed Cuff sections at the beginning and end and do the Cable section instead. You will probably want to start the buttonhole/thumbhole about an inch further into the design than the pattern calls for, but this is not a problem in the pattern as you can actually insert the buttonhole at any stage without making major changes. You will probably also want to continue the pattern further at the end to make up for that missing cuff.

The photo here on Ravelry by elizabeyth appears to show this kind of alteration. The wristwarmers will still fit tightly because they are ribbed the rest of the way around.
