This pattern if for one of my most ornately cabled warm pocket shawls. The focal cable comes to us from the Shetland Islands and is combined with a unique textured stitch, that also comes to us from the Shetland Islands. The pockets ensure that the shawl will stay comfortably on your shoulders. If you love knitting cables, you’ll enjoy this shawl made using worsted weight yarn, guaranteeing that you’ll be warm on a cool spring evening.

Skill Level: Intermediate (assuming a basic knowledge of cable knitting).

The cable focal stitch are both charted and written out line by line. There is a diagram contained within the pattern to assist you with pocket placement, and there are also instructions for an optional crocheted border.

The sample was expertly pattern tested by Gay Fehr, who can be contacted at grf1956@ gmail.com. The yarn used in the sample is Shepherd Worsted by Lorna’s Laces, in colorway, Fjord.
