This pattern was designed to teach brioche to first-time brioche knitters as an accompaniment to the Water Bearer sweater, available on Ravelry here.

DESCRIPTION
------

WATER BORN is a pattern for 3 single-color brioche headwraps of increasing complexity. The wraps are simple and easy to wear, perfect for brisk morning walks or quick and delicate knitted gifts. The pattern includes detailed instructions and 7 video tutorials for everything from brioche 101 to invisible finishing methods for the headwraps. The 3 options make this an ideal “first” brioche pattern, allowing you to begin with straight brioche stitch and work your way up to increasing and decreasing.

YARN
------

This headwrap is designed for a DK weight wool/wool blend OR a fingering weight wool held together with a laceweight mohair/silk. For option A, I used Ritual Dyes Maven Fingering (100% fine SW merino, 265 yds/50g) and Fae Laceweight (70% mohair, 30% silk, 459 yds/50g) in Bone; for options B & C, I used Ritual Dyes Priestess DK (100% fine SW merino, 250 yds/115g) in Iron and Aquarius.

You can use either a single strand of DK or fingering/laceweight held double for any of the options (A, B, or C).

Yarn requirements in Ritual Dyes Priestess DK: 1 skein
Yarn requirements in Ritual Dyes Maven & Fae: 1 skein of each
Yarn requirements by yardage: 130 yds of DK – or – 130 yds each of fingering & laceweight
Yarn requirements by meter: 119 meters of DK – or – 119 meters each of fingering & laceweight

Ritual Dyes has kits available on her website for the yarns I used for the samples in the pattern photos!

I have provided a list of other suitable yarns at a range of price points at the end of the list page. Scroll down!
