Designed as the first of a series of fruit blankets, this watermelon blanket will keep your little one warm in the winter, while reminding you of summer!

The only stitches used are a popcorn stitch and half-double crochet. The blanket is worked flat from corner to corner. The trick with this blanket is taking the arc that’s created from the fruit and building a square edge onto it. All terms in the pattern are American. Finished blanket size: 36”x36”.

This pattern is pretty quick to make, but you need to watch out for the watermelon slice to be fully rounded, and not geometric from increases happening in the same spot each successive row. I’ve given a dispersed increase pattern to help alleviate this. However, if your pattern is a little off in where your increases happen, or even if the stitch count is off by a few, it will still turn out a beautiful blanket.
