This little shawl knits up fairly quickly and looks beautiful in self-striping yarn. Since the knitting is worked from the top down you can easily alter the size by working more or less rows.

In the sample shawlette I used 2 skeins of Noro Shiraito. If you want a small neck scarf, 1 skein will do. If you want a larger shawl then you will need more yarn.

Sample measures:
Width (wingspan) about 54” / 137 cm; Depth 23” / 58 cm at the center spine

From Voyages by Hart Crane….
Star kissing star through wave on wave unto
Your body rocking!
and where death, if shed,
Presumes no carnage, but this single change,—
Upon the steep floor flung from dawn to dawn
The silken skilled transmemberment of song;

Permit me voyage, love, into your hands …
