The wavy headband is a simple and quick project. A conventional garter-stitch band is decorated with slip knit DS selvedge – closed, and has an ergonomic shape to protect your ears from the wind. It starts with a Provisional cast-on, has some simple shaping stitches, and finishes with a Three needle bind-off. The headband is knitted
with negative ease. When worn, the very elastic garter fabric expands, however the DS selvedge keeps its shape, so the edges have a snug fit.

The pattern was designed to demonstrate Distitch selvedge and is taken from Distitch, a book about this innovative principle of knitting. Distitch provides a very neat, clear and decorative edge, some samples are presented in this video. More about Distitch knitting can be found on website https://assiabrill.com/
