I’ve designed two basic scarves that I am having available as a free download. These were my first designs for knitting classes that I taught. Feel free to download and use for teaching, but please be sure to credit me for the pattern.

This pattern takes advantage of the curling that occurs in the stockinette stitch (alternating rows of knit and purl) to make a fun scarf.

You can make adjustments by making the scarf wider by adding stitches, or making the stripes wider by adding more alternation rows of knit and purl, always making sure to start with a knit row and end with a knit row.
