This design was inspired by the yarn; as soon as I felt the Lang Gordon cashmere blend, I knew it needed to be snuggled close to my neck! The tweed texture was begging to be worked into cables, and I decided on this unusual ribbed cable with a twisted or traveling stitch detail. No cable needle necessary for twisted stitches! If you’ve never worked a twisted stitch, a link is included in the pattern to a youtube video demonstrating how to do this. There are other ways to work twisted stitches, but the one described in the pattern and shown in the video is recommended for this pattern.

The Wayfarer Cowl sits close to the neck; if you prefer a looser fit, you may cast on additional stitches in multiples of 7. You will have sufficient yarn with two balls of Lang Gordon to knit a cowl with one or two extra repeats. Suitable for advanced beginner to intermediate knitters.Finished size for the cowl is 25-26” circumference and 11” tall.
