Based on the worsted weight version Little Fairies, this design is completely re-written for fingering weight yarn, and has two sizes, a more snug, warm fit, and a loose, flowy fit, achieved by casting on more repeats. The smaller size can be made with a typical full skein of fingering weight yarn, I used Sourdough Sock by Kim Dyes Yarn because I loved this colorway and this extremely talented dyer! I’m also listing Soft Rock LF by Blue Moon Fiber Arts as a similar option, but due to higher yardage and value per skein it is a lovely yarn perfect for the larger size of this cowl.

It features simple slipped stitch cables that look like rows of fairy wings if you tilt your head sideways and squint a little (no really, they do.)

TIP: I knit another version of this at a much looser gauge, by sizing up the needles by three sizes and while it turned out quite massive, I really enjoyed the drape! So play around with the gauge and see what you like, it just might affect your overall yarn usage. I knit my larger gauge/drapey version in the small size with US 4 needles and still only used one skein of fingering weight yarn.
