♫ The Music ♫
Let the sweet tune of Paul McCartney’s Little Willow lull your wee one to slumber: “Sleep, little willow, Peace gonna follow…”.

Beginning with a provisional cast on, the centre weeping willow panel of this blanket is worked flat. Stitches are then picked up around the outer edges of the centre panel and work continues in the round to add the different cabled and slip-stitch borders.

The outer edging is knit on at right angles to the blanket, incorporating the live stitches. Short rows are used to shape the corners. A smaller-sized DPN is used as the RH needle when working the edging – the LH needle will be the gauge needle; this offset combination makes sure the edging does not flare. Knitters need to be able to read their knitting (identify knit and purl sts) for the final BO. A few stitches need to be sewn together to finish off the edging.

First Stitch in Each Row
Do not be tempted to slip the first st in each row of the centre panel. Sts will be picked up along the edges of the piece and slipping the edge sts will leave too few sts to be picked up. Instead, work each st as indicated and tug the working yarn to tighten those edge sts up right after each one is worked.

Approximate yardages are included in the pattern for the different elements of this blanket.
