This is the original edging for the 6-pointed double star pattern in Weldon’s Practical Needlework, Volume 3. This 1.75” wide edging can be blocked straight or curved. If sewing to a curved piece, block the edging in an arc to help align it to the main piece. I recommend blocking the main piece first before finishing the edging to ensure there’s enough edging to go around.
There are 8 pattern rows to this edging. I altered the selvage stitch for easier sewing.

Skills needed: e-wrap cast on or provisional cast on, slip, knit, purl, yarn over, double yarn over and bind off in knit stitch.

Gauge is not important in this pattern. Any block-able yarn/thread will work. Make a swatch to check size and appearance.

6 yards of #10 crochet cotton thread will make about 24 rows (2 inches) in the stated gauge.
